Get Excited!

Okay, so going into fall, I'm always excited about one thing: new books.

Besides the much-anticipated MOCKINGJAY (by Suzanne Collins) that's coming out on Tuesday, here are some other titles I can't wait to sink my reading eyes into. (Sidenote: Not all of these are dystopian/sci fi.)

THE SCORCH TRIALS by James Dashner (releases Oct. 12)
CLOCKWORK ANGEL by Cassandra Claire (releases Aug. 31)
SAPPHIQUE by Catherine Fisher (releases Dec. 28)
BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (releases Oct. 12)
BEHEMOTH by Scott Westerfeld (releases Oct. 5)
THE DARK AND HOLLOW PLACES by Carrie Ryan (releases March 22, 2011)

And of course, I know you've got XVI (by Julia Karr), ACROSS THE UNIVERSE (by Beth Revis), MEMENTO NORA (by Angie Smibert) and THE LONG WALK HOME (by Jeff Hirsch) on your list too, right? Right.

What other books are you getting excited about??

I think Scott Westerfeld's a genius! Behemoth is one of the books on my TO READ list! I think he did an amazing job with Leviathan and I can't wait to read more about Deryn and Alek! :D counting down til Mockingjay!

I'm pretty excited for Nightshade City, because I (sort of) know Hilary, but all these books you've mentioned are also looking pretty good. Thanks Elana!

Oooh, yes, great choices Bittersweet.

And SW is a genius, I couldn't agree more.

And Matt, Nightshade City is great! (And so is Hilary.)

Yes. All of those as well as Paranormalcy by Kiersten White and Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.

Behemoth, definitely. I know absolutely nothing about Clockwork Angel but i like the title and the cover so much I think I have to read it.

I've got them on my to-read list which grows exponentially every day. {sigh} too little time.

I just finished Catching Fire yesterday, so I am SO PUMPED about Mockingjay.

That aside, I'm totally looking forward to Behemoth (I really liked Leviathan), and also Blameless by Gail Carriger. Sapphique would be at the top of my list under Mockingjay if I didn't already have it.

And those are just the sequels I'm looking forward to!

Yay! Thanks for posting the pub date on Behemoth, I didn't realize it would be out so soon.

What a great list. I'm looking forward to most of these...wasn't aware of some of them. Going to have to go do some research. :)

Gotta be the conclusion to 'The Hooded Man' trilogy. The Afterblight Chronicles: Arrowland. This one comes out in September. The whole series of books is pretty effing sweet though.

Everyone of these and more are on my list but the one I'm most anticipating is the final book in the "The Earth's Children" by Jean Auel. It has been 31 years, yeap-- years since this series was started and 9 years since the last book in the series came out. So needless to say, come March 31, 2011 I will not cook, clean or blog till I've read it.

Another couple I'm waiting on --

Lynn Viehl's "Frostfire" (Kyndred, Bk 3)due out in Jan 2011
Lori Handeland's "Marked by the Moon" 11/10 & "Moon Cursed" March 2011 both Night Creature series
Rachel Vincent's "Alpha" Sept 2010
this one marks the end of the series
Dakota Cassidy's "Accidentially Catty" March 2011
These are ones that I'm especially waiting on. Generally, if it's a series book I tend to save and read them in batches, 3 or 4 at a time so I don't pay a whole lot of attention when a new one comes out cause they just go on the shelf. The ones listed above are authors & series that I preorder and read immediately upon them getting in my house. I'm going to be sad to see the last of Vincent's Werecat series but hopefully she'll keep this world alive and thriving.
Handeland's Night Creatures was THE one that started me on my love of shifters and she actually had almost three years between books 8 & 9, I was so afraid this wonderful series had ended but thank goodness she's back with two books within 4 months. Yeah!
