Now wait a second... if @Josin is going to pull Sisko into this, I HAVE to pull Janeway into this! I love all of the Star Treks, but must admit Janeway is probably my #1 because she was the only female captain. I love Voyager!
I've seen a few Picard shows. I admit I grew up with Captain Kirk as the one in charge (yes, I'm old). But gah--we have to CHOOSE? They both have their pluses. :)

I've just recently seen a friend wear a shirt that explained ten reasons why Kirk is better than Picard, and I don't remember them, but really fantastic reasons that convinced me. I only watched several episodes, where Kirk is in charge, so it's very biased of me to pick him over Picard, whom I never watched.
All I have to say is "Earl Grey. Hot."

I'm too torn to answer this question I think. I like them both for different reasons...though the original series is my favorite, so by default I guess I'd have to choose Kirk. (Though my Trek-obsessed fiancee would agreed with @Josin because when asked this question he always answers Sisko.)
