oooo the Holodeck would be soooo fun, but man, that food replicator would make the life of a mommy writer so much easier. Just think, no more feeling guilty about feeding your kids nothing but cereal when you're up against a deadline! :D
While the holodeck is so completely awesome and I'd love to immerse myself in it as a getaway, I actually have to go with the food replicator. You see, I HATE to cook. And cooking for one (drooling canines excluded) sucks even more. I'd keep using books as my holodeck and definitely install a food replicator.
Even if I did want a replicator (which I don't) it has two downsides. One, this is a FOOD replicator (no weapons, tools, books or anything) Two, people in Star Trek (especially DS9 onwards) are always whinging about the artificiality of replicated food, saying it doesn't taste as good as the real thing.

Holodeck, even though I "should" say food replicator. More practical. LOL
I'm holodeck here all the way. So is my husband - I knew we were soul mates.
Food replicatorthe holodeck would be kind of fun...for a little while. But the food replicatorthe would be so useful. And I loooove food. ;)
Holodeck, hands down!
